Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings in Huntington Park

When a cavity is caught and treated early, a simple filling can restore your tooth completely. We use tooth-colored composite resin — no metal, no dark spots, just a natural-looking result.

Composite vs. amalgam fillings

We use composite resin (white/tooth-colored) fillings exclusively. Unlike older silver amalgam fillings, composite resin bonds directly to your tooth structure, requires less removal of healthy tooth material, and blends naturally with the surrounding enamel.

If you have old metal fillings that are cracking, leaking, or simply bother you cosmetically, we can discuss whether replacing them with tooth-colored composite makes sense for you.

  • Natural tooth-colored appearance — no dark metal showing
  • Bonds directly to tooth, preserving more healthy structure
  • Completed in a single appointment
  • Durable and long-lasting with good home care
  • Mercury-free — no amalgam used at our clinic

How long does a filling take?

Most fillings are completed in a single 45–60 minute appointment. We numb the area, remove the decay, place and shape the composite, then cure it with a light. You leave with a fully restored tooth the same day.

Does it hurt?

We administer local anesthesia before starting, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Some mild sensitivity for a day or two after is normal as the tooth adjusts.

Is it covered by insurance?

Most PPO plans cover composite fillings on front teeth at 100% and back teeth at 80% after deductible. Denti-Cal also covers medically necessary fillings. We'll verify your specific coverage before treatment.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

How long do composite fillings last?
With proper brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings, composite fillings typically last 7–15 years. Grinding your teeth, acidic diet, or skipping cleanings can shorten their lifespan.
Can you replace my old silver fillings with white ones?
Yes. We can evaluate whether your existing amalgam fillings need replacement and discuss the cosmetic and functional benefits. We'll never pressure you to replace fillings that are still in good shape.
What if my cavity is too large for a filling?
If decay has removed too much tooth structure, a filling may not provide adequate strength. In that case, Dr. Adelpour will discuss alternatives like an inlay, onlay, or dental crown.
